A Shade of Grey | ManiMonday

Its Monday so its time for a nail post.! Yes its been way too long since we last talked claws in fact our last #ManiMonday was all about how I do my own acrylics.

Todays nails was done on my 3rd set of acrylics so needless to say they look a lot better than last time. I have gone for a shape that I never wore before a 'mountain' shape (yes I did just google that) and Im actually really loving it. I built these with the pink powder that came in my starter kit that you saw in my last #ManiMonday but I must say that this 'pink' is just clear with the tint of pink. However this doesn't bother me too much as I always cover them with a polish.

DIY Acrylic Nails | ManiMonay

-
Today's installment is about how to get that salon look at home
...yes its DIY acrylics.!!

I would love to be able to go out and get a set of acrylic claws every other week but girl Im a college graduate looking for a job so that calls for a DIY.!! I took to YouTube and watched a LOT of tutorials and went straight to Amazon to pick up a starter acrylic set .

This little set is the perfect starter kit as it has everything:
files / forms / buffers / primer / powder / acrylic liquid / 2x brushes
I also got some nail tips (there easier to add length than forms)

The first thing I done was prep my cuticles to see the best way to do this look back at my cuticle care post. Now we need to prep our nails by buffing them, add our nail tip, shape (I chose the coffin shape) and apply the primer to the natural nail.

Here comes the hard part..the acrylic.! I advise to practice practice practice before you go anywhere near your actual nails.! I got out some fake nails I had lying around and started to practice the all important liquid to powder ratio.! This is where you wet your brush with the acrylic liquid (that smells SO strong be warned) and then dip it into your powder to form the wet acrylic bead. Now we work quick and apply it to the nail and form the shape before it drys. Acrylic is my favorite technique as it cures in the air and theres no need for a light.!

It takes time to build up the nail with acrylic and even more time to do your own nails.!! The top tip I learned from watching YouTube tutorials was to add an extra support bead between the natural nail and the fake nail tip to ensure the nail tip doesn't pop off. Like me if you do your own nails your file will be your savior as well all know we'll have one good had and one not so cute! Just file and shave the bumps and bubbles away to blend everything in.

I chose to paint these claws this nude from Rimmel in the shade 'Caramel Cupcake' and added some little nail accessories from Penneys/Primark (as a distraction) to the nails that weren't as cute as Id have liked lol

Overall I love how my first attempt came out.!

If your interested in doing your own nails like me below is a link to the products I used:

A YouTube video that showed me how its done:

Cuticle Care | ManiMonday

Lets talk cuticle care.!
Im the first to admit that I never touched my cuticles EVER I was always afraid to go near them its crazy to think that I thought it would hurt lol...it doesn't.!

I really want to take more care of my nails and that starts with your cuticles. I was in Penneys (Primark to others) last week and found this cuticle oil and decided to give it a go, I also picked up this cuticle pusher to try and fix up my nails.! Both of these products came to a total of 3euro which is amazing. Penneys beauty range is getting better and better and its soo affordable.!

Wine and Sparkles | ManiMonday

-

Its that time of the week...#ManiMonday is here to get you out of your Monday blues.!
Todays fix is short, wine and sparkly.

Im embracing my short nails and for the most part I actually dont mind it. I have a LOT of college work to do (the usual assignments, continuous assessments, exams, reports and oh ya my thesis.!) and with shorter nails I type faster lol.

I decided to mix things up with some colour and of course some sparkles.!! This is a VERY simple way to make your nails look like they got a professionals touch.

Restore and Repair | ManiMonday

-
We all know my addiction to fake nails is strong but Im afraid I have to go without them for a while. Its time to repair and restore my nails.! That glue was taking its toll to the point where my nails were being ripped off layer by layer with every set, they are weak AF. Yes I fell into the trap of not using protection...ALWAYS USE A BASE COAT.!

So for now its time to embrace the short nails for a bit (saddest horror story ever!). So my new best friend is Essence's Studio Nails Triple Care. It promises to care, repair and strengthen my nails and it seems to be working so far.

Black, White and Purple | ManiMonday

-
Its that time again... yes I've changed out my nails.!
Penneys (or Primark depending on where your reading this) have out done themselves ladies this design is by far their best yet.! Black, White, Purple...Bliss.!
Im in love and Im going to go back for more <3
I have been trolling instagram and pinterest obsessing over nail designs like these and I was so excited when I saw these the otherday in Penneys for a mere 1.50.! Yes Penneys is giving us the professional look and detail for beyond a bargain. I put these on with the separate nail glue that they now supply and I've been using it for quite a while and its now my favorite over my trusty Nailene glue.
Just look for yourselves and go run to the nearest Penneys/Primark near you.!

3 Minute Manicure Made to Last | ManiMonday

-
Im back.! And with my favorite topic fake nails.!
Elegant Touch Express always have the best designs however Im not a fan of the press on application. I tried the press on way but found its just not practical. Stickers dont work aswell as glue.! Thats why I remove the glue with nail polish remover and replace it with the new nail glue Penneys brought out.!
Im always on the look out for these on sale in Boots cause there quite pricey and using glue makes them last that much longer.

Summer Nails | ManiMonday

-
Summers here and that means its time to be bold and go for that retro print! As a lover of nails I couldn't resist this pineapple print from Penneys. I love nail art and if the work is already done for me then even better. Who has time to paint tiny pineapples on their nails anyway?! I decided to pair these with some cute gold finger tattoos to give this look an extra summer feel.
